Diseases of the Ears & Sinuses

Ear problems can include hearing loss or not. Depending on the cause, symptoms can begin suddenly and disappear quickly, or develop over time combining with additional symptoms. One or both ears may be affected. Watch for:

  • ear pain or discomfort
  • burning sensation in the ear
  • drainage of pus/blood from the ear, followed by pain relief
  • fullness in the ear
  • hearing loss
  • hearing unusual sounds/ringing in the ears
  • itching in the ear
  • low-set ears
  • spot, sore or growth on the skin of the outer ear or ear canal

Sinus problems can come from a broad spectrum of causes. Symptoms include:

  • congestion
  • drainage/runny nose
  • pressure
  • headaches
  • migraines
  • low grade fever
  • fatigue
  • lightheadedness/dizziness
  • ear fullness
  • cough/wheezing
  • shortness of breath, especially with exertion
  • chest tightness
